1) Don’t think too much.
2) Identify the target (emotion / memory / physical sensation).
3) While keeping the target in mind, feel each of the following at it:
- “I’m sorry.”
- “Thank you.”
- “I love you.”
- “I give you permission to leave.”
5) Continue to hold the target without any kind of forcing or willing or intending.
